Diabetes mellitus as we all know is a global health issue and more so for developing countries like India and other South East Asian countries. I am glad that South East Asia Diabetes Foundation has taken an apt step in focusing in these countries of high diabetes burden which altogether has different disease dynamics from rest of the world in terms of not only resource constraint but also challenges in management. I am sure under the aegis of SEADF the needs of these countries will be managed to a greater extent. I welcome all delegates to the holy city of Rishikesh with majestic Ganga at its footstep and lush greenery all around
